This program is a joint initiative with Senior Action Quebec to promote volunteering within the senior population as a tool to reach out to isolated English-speaking seniors and to provide them with the required information on the services available to them.
The objective of GPS is to recruit volunteers, most of whom will be seniors themselves, to offer support to other socially isolated English-speaking seniors within the Black community. The seniors will ultimately be connected to programs and services that respond to their needs, and help reduce their social isolation. “Getting Programs to Seniors” builds a bridge between vulnerable seniors and the network of professionals in their community. Our goal is to raise awareness about the available services and programs and to increase their ability to navigate the public system.
This project is a two-year project and is funded in part by the Government of Canada`s “New Horizons for Seniors Program”
